White House Press Secretary Karolen Lewit said that the US government is happy with the agreement with Colombia and ensured that if Columbia does not maintain the agreement, the trade restrictions imposed by the US could be implemented.

Meanwhile, President Petro justified the decision of the American aircraft to ban columbia on social media and said that the US should behave better with Colombian migrants. Petro also said that if needed, he himself is ready to send the President’s aircraft, so that the exiles can be brought from America to Colombia.

Questions arose in front of the world, Trump increased pressure

Prior to Colombia’s decision, Trump had reacted strongly against Colombia and said that if Columbia did not accept these aircraft, the US could impose twenty five percent tariff on Colombia goods, which is up to fifty percent by next week. However, after this pressure, there was a conversation between the officials of the two countries and External Affairs Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo announced that the two countries had resolved the dispute and Colombia would now accept the exile without any interruption.
